Slushii: All but that… An event recap
Slushii: All but that… An event recap I write quite a few articles on shows here in Nashville, trying to paint a picture of the events, what people felt, heard, and saw, and what the experience is like. I’m going to take a different path on this one, as I try to compile my thoughts about Slushii’s set at the Cannery Ballroom in Nashville, TN on Friday, June 7, 2019.

It basically comes down to this: If you missed it, then you missed out. I really don’t know how to paint any more of a clearer picture than that. If you’re ok with not attending shows, and trying to experience the emotional highs through a magazine or web recap, then I’d strongly encourage you to GO next time! Buy a ticket the next time a neck breaking DJ like Slushii comes to your town!

Tonight can be considered nothing short of sweet nectar for the soul! As Slushii brought his hard- hitting combination of driving dubstep and future bass stylings, along with sweet melodic samples and amazing mash-ups throughout the night, the energy in the crowd was palpable, as not a single body was standing still. This felt like Bonnaroo, 6 days before the first artist even takes the stage. This was such a memorable show, that the only thing I can say about it, is do not miss Slushii when he comes to your town!
The night kicked out with a tremendously dynamic and energetic set from Nitti Gritti whose big sound and catchy hooks really got the crowd moving and prepared them for what lied ahead. I was completely soaked in sweat from head to toe, just 10 minutes into his set, if that tells you anything. Fortunately, I was smart enough to wear a headband to catch all of the sweat from ruining yet another quality hat.
Once Slushii took the stage, all insanity ensured. I could go back and check the set list, but what’s the point? I know Twinbow, (his massive smash hit collab with Marshmello) got spun at some point, and as expected- the crowd went insane, but this show was about releasing pent up energy into the world, and being free as a human being; Vibing with amazing people and amazing music; not checking some list and figuring out what songs were played.

I don’t know how many people will read this, but for the ones who are- listen closely, and listen well. There is FREEDOM in the music you love! Be a part of it! Go to shows! Get free! Release your energy into the world, and express yourself through the music and the artists that you love! There are just so few things in this world that have the power to change your outlook, your state of mind, or your emotional state quite like music can! Specifically, I would encourage anyone to go catch a live EDM show, and let go of any preconceived notions or ideas, and just let go of everything else and let the music guide your path! Slushii is just one of many fantastic EDM producers/DJ’s who have the power to take an entire crowd on an emotional journey, and everyone owes it to themselves to have the chance to free themselves up from the cares of this world, even if just for a few hours. Julian Scanlan (Slushii), you are amazing at what you do, and I am thankful for it!
